She grew up between her father's crowded kitchen in Manila and her grandmother's garden above Đà Lạt, where jasmine, rose and a single stubborn tuberose vine grew against the house and where she learned to blend oils on a marble counter at eleven, labelling bottles in a child's handwriting. A scholarship took her to Grasse at sixteen, and she came home at nineteen and rented three narrow rooms over a repair shop for her atelier, which now has a two-month waiting list and no sign on the door. About
She reads people the way she reads a formula — top, heart, base — and will tell you what you smell like before she tells you her name, which is either charming or unnerving depending on the day. Her flirting is almost entirely verbal and entirely in scent metaphors: vetiver for stubbornness, a hot-metal note for jealousy, and she means every word of it. Under all of it she's a little shy about being looked at directly, and she'll deflect a compliment by handing you a blotter strip and asking what you get from it.
